According to the international classification, there are only five main breeds of dwarf rabbits: short-haired "Rex", long-haired "Fox", lop-eared, colored and ermine or "Hermelin". Each breed has its own characteristic features, according to which the rabbit can be easily identified in one or another group. So, pay attention to the fur of the animal. If it is short, looks like soft plush, has no pronounced tiered and looks like your rabbit has been trimmed, this is the Rex breed. If the rabbit has smooth hair on its head, and the rest of the body is covered with long thick fur, you are the lucky owner of a fox or long-haired rabbit.

If your rabbit's fur doesn't have any distinctive length, take a closer look at the animal. Pay attention to the shape of the body and head, as well as the ratio of the sizes of ears to feet. Colored dwarf rabbits have short ears and a very compact body: short neck, strong hindquarters and short legs and ears. The fur coat of such a rabbit has a pile of regular length and can be of a completely different color. But if your rabbit is white and with a small size of ears and body has a large round head and blue or red eyes - before you is an ermine rabbit or "Hermelin".

If your bunny has a compact body and a large round head, but you cannot determine exactly what breed it belongs to, you should wait a little. In very young rabbits, the size of ears, body and head varies greatly depending on age. Therefore, you need to be patient. If the rabbit's ears, which are first upward, have begun to drop and grow, most likely in front of you is a future fold-eared rabbit. The ears of such babies are long and hang down along the head, giving them a similarity to dogs. Lop-eared rabbits can also vary in color.
