Snakes are cold-blooded reptiles. They are common in almost all continents of the world. The only exception is Antarctica. In total, there are over 3000 species of snakes on the planet. There are not so many of them in Russia - only about 90 species, but among them there are both poisonous and completely harmless to humans.

Step 1
Common viper. This snake can be found in the forest-steppe and forest zones of Russia: it lives in swamps, in mixed forests, in clearings, near the banks of rivers and lakes. The common viper is most common in Siberia, in the European part of Russia, as well as in the Far East (up to Sakhalin Island). It is a relatively small venomous snake. Usually the length of its body is no more than 75 cm, however, specimens up to 1 m long can be found in the north of the country. When meeting a person, the common viper, as a rule, attempts to escape. If something threatens her, then she begins to defend herself: hisses, threateningly rushes. Therefore, you do not need to make any sudden movements when meeting with a viper.
Step 2
Already ordinary. Harmless snakes often suffer from humans due to their resemblance to vipers. People who mistake snakes for vipers purposefully destroy them. Snakes are widespread throughout the European part of Russia. The only exception is the polar regions. The common snake can be found in the Far East and Siberia, as well as in the vicinity of Lake Baikal. The length of this snake is 85-90 cm. The usual habitat of snakes is the banks of flowing bodies of water. It is curious that outside the Russian Federation (in Ukraine and Belarus), rural residents generally tame snakes. The fact is that these harmless snakes easily make contact with humans, being wonderful mouse-catchers.
Step 3
Copperhead ordinary. This non-venomous snake is widespread throughout Russia. Unfortunately, in recent years, the number of these snakes has been decreasing, which is associated with the destruction of their natural habitats. Copperheads, like snakes, are often exterminated, confused with poisonous snakes. In length, they reach no more than 70 cm. The usual habitat of the copperhead is the forests of central Russia: these snakes live on the edges of coniferous, deciduous or mixed forests. In general, the favorite places of the copperhead are clearings, perfectly warmed up by the sun, the grass of the undergrowth. It is rare to find these snakes in meadows and other open areas.
Step 4
Gyurza. This snake is a relative of the viper. They even belong to the same family - vipers. Gyurza is a rather large and muscular snake, reaching a length of almost 1.5 m! She lives in the territory of Southern Siberia. Its poison is highly prized and widely used in medicine. Gyurza is a very brave snake, however, it does not attack a person first until it is disturbed. If the meeting happened suddenly (for example, a snake was stepped on), then it attacks with lightning speed, without warning!
