General information about Gara Rufu

Gara-rufu is a species of fish belonging to the carp family. Natural habitat - the countries of the Middle East: Turkey, Syria, Israel, Iraq, and Iran. Fish lead a bottom life. Their life cycle is 4-5 years. The size of a gara-rufu, depending on the microclimate of the environment, can vary from 2 to 15 cm.

Aquarium conditions are not for these fish. Nevertheless, in recent years, many are interested in this issue. The main purpose of breeding is the use of fish in medical and cosmetic procedures. Since this species is quite whimsical, breeding gara-rufu requires compliance with some rules related to maintaining the right temperature, feeding and other aspects.

Compliance with temperature conditions

Since under natural conditions fish live in ponds and streams near thermal springs, the temperature of the artificial habitat should be at least 22-24 ° C. The most optimal temperature regime for gara-rufu is 34-38 ° С.

Proper nutrition for gara-rufu

Gara-rufu has a very fast metabolic process, so food should be supplied to the fish regularly. It is believed that these fish are omnivorous. But this is not entirely true, since there are food, the composition of which has a more favorable effect on the development of individuals. This group includes frozen bloodworms, daphnia and brine shrimp, as well as high-quality dry food of the same origin.

In addition, dead skin particles are one of the favorite foods for gara-rufu. It is this feature that has served to the fact that fish have been used for more than a century for the treatment of skin diseases in the East, and for about five years - in domestic cosmetology and medical practice.

Additional factors for comfortable keeping gara-rufu

Food and temperature are not the only factors affecting gara-rufu. When breeding these creatures, you must also take into account such indicators as:

1. The required volume of water in the aquarium, which is 1-2 liters per fish.

2. Chemical composition of water:

- hydrogen index (pH) - 6.5-7.0 (marks not less than 5.5 and not more than 8.0 are permissible);

- hardness - up to 20 dH.

3. Continuous filtration of the medium.

4. The need to keep fish in schools, consisting of at least 5-6 individuals of the same species, since other gara-rufu fish are not interesting. This need is due to the fact that fish are very playful, and their favorite pastime is catching up.

By following these rules, you can count on success in breeding gara-rufu.
