The British Shorthair is considered one of the most popular cat breeds among breeders in Russia. To preserve the purity of the population when mating (mating) the British, the owners are advised to follow some of the rules adopted in the environment of felinologists.
Instructions
Step 1
Cross British cats only with cats of the same breed (and vice versa). Please note that interbreeding British mating is prohibited by international pedigree breeder standards. Otherwise, the kittens born will not be able to obtain pedigree and will not be recognized as British.
Step 2
When mating, do not choose imbreeding (closely related crossbreeding), that is, do not knit British cats and cats that are closely related. This is fraught with the birth of kittens with physiological abnormalities. Imbreeding is allowed only if there is an outstanding sire in the British family and serious breeding work to improve the breed. If there are no such goals, select an outside partner of the same breed for mating your cat or cat.
Step 3
If you want to get a litter of kittens of a certain color as a result of mating, carefully study the pedigrees of your cat (cat) and the prospective partner (partner). So, in Russia, the blue British are considered the most popular. They can be mated with cats of a similar color (litter will be blue), chocolate color (to obtain black offspring), cream color (kittens will be either cream or blue-cream).
Step 4
Have a cat or British cat for the first mating at about one year of age. Before crossing a pet, visit a veterinarian or a club to which the Briton belongs with him, take a consultation on mating and make sure that your pet has no genetic defects.
Step 5
Find a mating partner (mate) on your own or with the help of professional breeders of your nearest British cat club. Make sure that the cat you are going to cross has all the necessary vaccinations. Please note that it may take more than one day for a favorable completion of the process, especially if one of the partners is participating in mating for the first time. Do not mix a virgin cat and a cat, it will be difficult for them to find a common language.
