Rabbits perceive the wires that are within their reach as stalks of grass or twigs that can and should be gnawed, since the front incisors of these animals grow all their lives and require constant grinding. How to wean a rabbit from this venture, dangerous for him and for the owners?
Instructions
Step 1
Take a cotton swab, soak it in a weak solution of acetic acid and anoint the wires. In most cases, the smell of vinegar is perceived by rabbits as a mark of foreign territory, although this method may not work with a rabbit. A fragrant soap solution also works well. In addition, the wires can be greased with mustard or sprinkled with levomethicin, after grinding a couple of tablets. The unexpected unpleasant taste of your favorite wires can scare your rabbit away.
Step 2
Buy a special spray "Antigryzin" in a veterinary pharmacy. Spray it along the wires. It is likely that the rabbit will lose interest in them. This drug is absolutely harmless to animals and does not leave visible marks or damage on the surfaces treated with it.
Step 3
Bring enough apple, linden, pear, and aspen branches to the rabbit and put some of them in the cage, and the rest near the walls along which the wires are laid. It is possible that the rabbit will become interested in these "natural materials" and stop paying attention to their pitiful similarities in the form of wires. In no case should you give your rabbit twigs of plum, cherry or coniferous trees.
Step 4
Give your rabbit a kind of "construction site" with an abundance of materials to chew on. Take a large box (for example, from under a washing machine or an old TV), place there several cardboard packages of cereals, cookies, pasta (after removing the top layer from them), old towels. Place your rabbit in a box.
Step 5
Remove the wires under the skirting board, hide them in special boxes or lay them at a height of at least 50 cm from the floor. True, in this case, the animal can smoothly switch to eating wallpaper, but they can also be replaced with some kind of plastic covering or tile that is tightly attached to the wall.
Step 6
Buy or make a spacious cage or house for your rabbit. Put twigs there, and wire cuttings, and pieces of cardboard, and, of course, carrots.
