Step 1
A hamster brought to a new home needs at least a week to get used to it. It is better not to bother him at all at this time. If you try to pet a hamster during this period, most likely you cannot avoid bites.
Step 2
In order to accustom the animal to the hands, put your pet's favorite treat in the cage. Do not remove your hand without making any sudden movements, especially when the hamster dares to sniff it. Let him make sure that the hand is not dangerous, remember its smell. Even if the animal still gets scared and bites you, do not jerk your hand back abruptly - this will frighten it even more.

If the previous stage of taming went well, after a couple of days offer the animal a treat on your hand. Do not stretch the food by holding it with your fingers; it will be correct to put the treat on an open, relaxed palm. As soon as he learns to fearlessly eat from his hand, you can try to gently stroke him on the back with one finger (without touching his head).
Step 4
After the hamster is absolutely accustomed to the hand, it will begin to calmly allow itself to be stroked - you can try to put it on your palm and carefully remove it from the cage. Carefully measure the strength when communicating with the hamster, do not squeeze or squeeze it - after all, these creatures are very fragile and vulnerable. Try to explain this to the children before letting them touch your hamster.
Step 5
There are a number of things that should not be done with hamsters, so as not to scare or injure them. In no case should the animal be stroked on the head - small rodents perceive touching the head painfully. There is no need to pick up your hamster from the back - he must see your hand before it touches him. Physical punishment in relation to these animals should also not be applied: there will be no educational effect from them, and the stress for your pet will be considerable.
