Cats are very wary of new people, as they consider themselves the masters of their home. If, when you appear on the doorstep, the cat hid under a bed or bath, do not fish it out, but rather give it time to get used to you and "learn" a new smell.
Step 2
If after some time the pet decided to leave the shelter and come up to you, it means that curiosity took over, and the cat considers you safe. But be careful: she may allow herself to be stroked a couple of times, and then sharply bite or scratch. Therefore, do not rush to touch her, but rather "talk" to her, showing your respect. When your cat decides to come closer to you, check its position by extending your palm over its head. If the cat pokes its nose at it or starts purring, it means that it allows itself to be stroked.
Step 3
If you already know your pet, and he accepts you, you can pamper him with a delicious gift. Is the cat rubbing against your feet? She lacks attention, perhaps she even missed your caresses and wants you to stroke her. If a cat jumps into your lap and settles down on it, then she trusts you. Do not drive her away at least for a while so that she does not get angry and take revenge on you by scratching the shoes or jacket in which you came. The highest degree of feline confidence is the ability to let you scratch your furry tummy.
Step 4
Never give a stranger cat a reason to behave aggressively. Don't scare her, don't hiss. Do not lash out with your fingers apart, even if you are just playing with your pet. After all, the cat will perceive the hand as a danger, and not only during the game, but even in those moments when you just want to stroke it. Therefore, choose special devices for games: clockwork mice, feather fishing rods, tweeters, etc.
