Unfortunately, the age of animals, especially cats and dogs traditional for our latitudes, is much shorter than the human age - on average, 11-12 years. And then they die, leaving their masters alone. And, probably, the most difficult thing is to survive the first few days after the death of a pet.
Instructions
Step 1
What to do when a dog dies, a faithful friend who loved his master just like that? How to survive the death of a dog, each time returning to an empty apartment and realizing that the ringing of the keys will no longer be heard barking? How to explain to children that their dog will never lick their hands with his big, rough tongue again? First, take it easy, of course, it sounds like a mockery, but this is how you can help yourself and your children cope with the loss. Yes, it is deep and will forever leave its mark on the soul, but time heals, and this is true.
Step 2
Organize a dignified animal funeral. In cities, there are cemeteries for animals where you can bury the body or ashes of a pet (cremation is carried out by veterinary clinics).
Step 3
If the animal died at home, take the children to the neighbors, letting the dog say goodbye before that. You should not injure their psyche with the sight of the body, it is better to take the children with you to the funeral and tell them that everyone dies once.
Step 4
Even if an accident occurs and the children do not know that something happened to the dog - do not invent fairy tales about Jack running away - the children will wait every second for his return, be nervous and worried. It is better to let them accept the death of a dog as a fait accompli that cannot be changed, than to cherish empty dreams and hopes.
Step 5
Immediately remove all dog's belongings from a prominent place - toys, a favorite ball, bowls for food and water, bedding. It's not about the proverb - "out of sight", just how to survive the death of a dog, if they always stand in plain sight and "scratch" the soul?
Step 6
And one more thing - do not bring another puppy to the children in return, as many parents do, children will not understand this gesture, even if it is made with the best of intentions. Could you take another animal now? So why do you judge your own children so superficially?
Step 7
Finally, take your kids to the animal's grave this weekend. Remember together funny situations from life, cry … do not be afraid of your emotions, because letting them out will make it much easier for you.
