Little kittens choose their own toilet anywhere, it is a pity that they do not take into account the opinion of the owner. It is especially unpleasant when the place chosen by the kitten turns out to be a carpet - the smell is quite sharp. There are a number of different ways you can get the creepy scent out of your carpet. You can clean the product yourself, or you can take it to dry cleaning.
It is necessary
- - vinegar or citric acid;
- - soda;
- - stain remover;
- - carpet brush;
- - detergent for carpets.
Instructions
Step 1
If your problem is not only odor, but also that the urine stain is visible on the carpet, remove it first. For light-colored carpets, use a mild solution of vinegar or citric acid and water. Colored products will not endure such experiments and will fade, stains can only be removed from them with a stain remover. Then you need to clean the entire carpet with any carpet cleaner.
Step 2
Soda absorbs unpleasant odors. Dampen the carpet with clean water from a spray bottle and sprinkle baking soda over it. Rub a little with a brush and wait. After a few hours, when the water has evaporated, vacuum the carpet. If you don't have a vacuum cleaner, knock the carpet out in the fresh air. The baking soda is usually well removed from the pile, and the urine smell is eliminated.
Step 3
If the carpet is no longer new, and you are not afraid to ruin it, dilute the chlorine with water and process the product, pay special attention to the place where the cat went to the toilet. White or light-colored carpets will not deteriorate from this product, unless they become a little cleaner. You can use the combined method, first spray the carpet with chlorine and then apply baking soda. Remove the cleaner from the fluff with a vacuum cleaner and ventilate the area.
Step 4
Stores sell detergents that remove unpleasant odors from carpets. Buy it in liquid form (dry powders work worse). Dilute the carpet detergent with water in the proportion indicated on the package. Treat the carpet, dry it, and vacuum it. This will not only eliminate the unpleasant odor, but also refresh the color of the carpet, and it will also acquire a pleasant aroma of detergent.
Step 5
If you can, wash the carpet. You can do this in the yard of your own house or even just on a river or a summer residence. No detergent can replace washing, because this way you get rid of the cat smell and thoroughly clean the carpet from various stains and other dirt.
