Collars are used only as an identification tool for a cat that the owners let out into the street. In order to take her out for a walk, you will need a special harness.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a collar for your cat - with a tag for the owner's phone / address - anti-flea or anti-mite. It should be put on before she goes for a walk. Even if the cat is lost, it will not be taken to a special detention center for stray animals and will not be taken home without calling the owner. And besides, it will get rid of the parasites. If she doesn't go out, you can get a collar just for beauty. The material and design can be any, depending on your preferences and the condition of the cat's coat and skin.
Step 2
Collar train your cat gradually. It is best to start when she is still very young. Buy a kitten collar or a regular collar and then shorten it a little. Try wearing it while you are feeding or playing with your cat. This will temporarily distract your pet from the collar: after all, he will be busy eating or playing. Wear it daily, increasing the time you wear it until the cat gets used to it.
Step 3
Before fastening the collar, check if it is strangling the animal, if the fur is loose under it, if the undercoat is damaged. Keep in mind that cats are always not averse to jumping, climbing trees, fences, roofs. Therefore, put on the collar so that she can always freely take her head out of him if he suddenly catches on something.
Step 4
If you are going to take your cat for walks, buy a harness. A collar will not work for this purpose, since the neck muscles of such animals are too weak and cannot withstand the load. Determine the correct harness size: two fingers should fit freely between the straps and the cat's body. Train your animal to the harness gradually.
Step 5
Place the closed ring around the cat's neck. Unfold the bridge connecting it and the strap so that it finds itself on the throat (the carabiner should be at the withers). Expand the space between the closed ring by moving the strap. Slide the right front leg into this space (the bridge will be on the cat's chest and the leg will be secured with a harness). Take the free end of the strap and slide it into the armpit of the left front leg.
Step 6
Buckle the strap. Place the ring around the neck so that it does not press on the cat's throat, and at the same time fits snugly around it, preventing it from twisting or pulling out. Make sure the webbing is straight in the middle of the chest and the right foot is securely locked. Tighten the strap tighter. Do not worry: you will not hurt the cat, but then it certainly will not escape, feeling that the harness is loose.
