If you bought fish and an aquarium, but did not take care of its interior decoration (or maybe you just didn't have enough money), then you can find a way out of this situation. You just need to make or look for decorations for the aquarium with your own hands.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to decorate the bottom of the aquarium, you can use natural materials, for example, colorful and bright pebbles, smooth or chipped. An orange or crimson-red color of a stone will tell you about its iron saturation. Such stones should not be used to decorate the aquarium, because they will oversaturate the water with iron.
Step 2
You can also use curly pieces of shell rock, sandstone, or tuff. Just first disinfect them by cleaning them with a stiff brush under running water, rinsing and baking for 5-10 minutes in the oven.
Step 3
Intricate wooden roots - driftwood will also well complement the overall picture of the aquarium. They also need to be processed in a certain way. First, file the surface of the driftwood. After giving it the desired shape, polish (optional). Then boil the driftwood for 10-12 hours. It is not necessary to boil continuously. You can boil in salted water intermittently (for 1 liter of water, 30 g of salt). After salted, dip the driftwood in fresh water and boil it there. Change fresh water from time to time. When the water stops cloudy, you can stop boiling.
Step 4
After boiling, it is better to cover the driftwood surface with a thin layer of epoxy or polyester. This is necessary so that the driftwood does not rot in the water. Driftwood caught from a natural reservoir is best used. It will be enough to grind them and boil them in fresh water for 1-2 hours.
Step 5
The bottom of the aquarium can also be decorated with natural shells. Just boil them first and rinse them. Then the shells should be calcined. Just don't get too carried away with natural shells - they break down over time and saturate the water with calcium. This makes the water in the aquarium harder. If you decide to use shells in your aquarium decoration, plant some calcium-absorbing plants in your aquarium - hornwort, custard, spring moss, or horsetail.
Step 6
At the bottom, glass pieces, rounded by the sea, look very beautiful. They are also boiled before stacking. And also don't forget about the ground. It is best to use a dark substrate such as dark sea sand or sea gravel in the aquarium.
