First Steps - Toilet Training

At 1 month old, the puppy can already be taught to walk on well-known affairs on the street. Woke up in the morning - take him out for 5-15 minutes. Then they fed them - walk again for 5-15 minutes. Played - take it outside, after a nap - again for a walk. And so all day for a week or two. For monthly puppies, this time is enough so that no surprises appear at home.

Collar introduction

In order to start a training course, you need to teach your puppy to put on a collar. Well-mannered Rottweilers perceive the collar as the perfect norm. It is important to know that the neck of a Rottweiler is larger than the head in girth, but this does not mean that the collar needs to be tightened until it is threaded. The collar should be removed with little effort, closed and put on in the same way. To put on a collar, call the puppy and offer him your favorite treat with one hand, and put on the collar with the other, while saying the command "collar". The puppy will stick his head into the collar himself, trying to get food. When removing, we also say "collar" and in the end, treat. By repeating these simple steps before feeding or walking every day, you will very quickly train your puppy to put on and take off the collar.

Walking on a leash and the command "beside"

The leash should be of a comfortable length, but not more than three meters, so that the Rottweiler gets used to staying further from the owner than the indicated distance. Start preparing for a walk with a leash in the apartment. Put the collar on the puppy with the leash attached to it. If the puppy shows displeasure - stroke, talk affectionately, treat. Repeating the command “near” gently and gently, walk with him around the apartment, easily pulling on the leash so that the puppy can feel it, but do not cause discomfort. If the puppy actively resists, let go of the leash, let your child get used to the fact that something is dragging behind him. It is very important: do not shout out the command, do not bellow it with the tone of a wounded bison, do not frighten the puppy, say "next to" with a calm intonation.

On the street, be sure to warn the dog with the command “near” before each stop and continue driving. All further walks in the city and in public places - only on a leash.

To punish the puppy or not?

If your puppy accidentally bites you while playing, this is not a cause for concern, just don't stick your fingers in its mouth anymore. But what to do if the puppy has bitten you deliberately or shows puppy aggression and does not react to the third "no"? In this case, repeat the command "no", already holding the negligent puppy by the scruff of the neck and shaking slightly. If the puppy does not react to this either, you need to punish him - put him on the floor on his side, press firmly and hold for about 10 minutes. When humility appears in his eyes, in a minute it will be possible to let go. You can't beat the dog, let's just slap it on the bottom! To prevent any aggression towards the owners, periodically you need to say "teeth" and when showing teeth, put your fingers in his mouth, touch his teeth, gums, the dog must know that it is impossible to bite. And sometimes allow yourself to "fumble" in his bowl of food while eating - the Rottweiler must take it calmly!

And remember that the character of the dog is shaped only by you. Correct and timely upbringing of a puppy and strict discipline is the guarantee that you will be comfortable together and that your dog will never harm you or the people and dogs around you. The appearance of a puppy in the family will change the daily routine, you need to be patient so that the dog turns into a reliable friend and protector. Home training should be done daily during everyday situations, and a puppy can be professionally trained when it reaches 8 or 10 months of age.
