Do you want your dog to always look great? Then you will have to master the professions of a hairdresser and manicurist for your pet!
Instructions
Step 1
To begin with, there are dog breeds that don't need a grooming. For example, Dobermans or German Shepherds. There are breeds for which a haircut is simply necessary - for example, poodles or Yorkshire terriers. There are also breeds that need "plucking" - trimming (Giant Schnauzers, Airedale Terriers).
Step 2
The haircut is divided into exhibition, that is, provided by the breed standard, hygienic (done primarily so that the regrown hair does not interfere with the dog, and it looks neat) and model, in which everything depends on the desire of the owner and the violent imagination of the master. Show haircuts are best done in pet salons. This is especially important for dogs that have a show career.
Step 3
A hygienic haircut can be done at home too. This haircut consists of trimming the long hair on the back of the paws, belly and mane. You should also carefully trim the hair between the fingers, as it tends to fall off and interfere with the animal when walking. In winter, ice freezes on the fur between the fingers, which causes discomfort for the animal.
Step 4
If you wish, you can also master the machine haircut of your pet. You should only buy special machines for animals, since human machines are not suitable for this purpose.
Step 5
Trimming or "plucking" is carried out 2-4 times a year, depending on the growth rate of the coat. As a rule, this procedure is carried out in spring and autumn and is necessarily timed to the exhibition (on average, 8-10 weeks before the event). The first "plucking" of the puppies is done at the age of five to seven months. It is also better to entrust this procedure to professionals.
Step 6
Do not forget about the condition of the claws. Periodically, they need to be trimmed with special nippers, which are sold in pet stores. The growth rate of claws for each dog is different - it all depends on the living conditions and nutrition. If the dog often walks on the asphalt, then the claws will have to be cut much less often, since they themselves will wear off on a hard surface.
