When an animal is sick and the question of putting to sleep arises, do not think about your feelings and emotions, mentally stand in the place of the animal. Imagine that this defenseless creature can neither tell nor show where it hurts. The best thing it can do is calmly and quietly endure the pain that is increasing every day. The sick animal can no longer play, eat, or walk normally. And sometimes a person is not able to help a pet to cope with an illness. No matter how strong the love for an animal is, no matter how the owner cares for him, in the animal world, as in the human world, there are incurable diseases. And this means that an animal that falls ill with such a disease will still die, but only its owner will decide how it will be: painful and difficult or after a liberating injection.

If the doctor says that the animal will not live long anyway, but all this time it will suffer from pain, you need to accept this situation, come to terms with the loss and decide to put it to sleep. For you, perhaps, it matters how long you still have to be with the animal - a day or a week, but for him every extra day can only be a continuation of his torture, which no longer brings any joy. Ask yourself, would you like your dear being to suffer until its natural end comes? Of course, it is cruel to sign a death warrant for a pet like this, but for him it will be deliverance from torment, and this is most important for you, as for a person who sincerely wants good for his pet.

When you decide to euthanize, you should think about where it is best to carry out the procedure: take the animal to a veterinary clinic or invite a doctor to your home. Of course, in the clinic, the procedure will be more sterile, but unfamiliar smells and people can scare the sick creature. At home, with him will be his dear people, familiar smells that will calm the animal and help him to leave this world easier.

Be sure to check with your doctor if he will inject sleeping pills. The fact is that the fatal injection itself paralyzes all organs of the animal and it simply suffocates from the inability to breathe air. This is a painful death that loving owners will never wish for a dear creature. But if a sleeping pill is introduced before the fatal injection, the animal simply falls asleep and does not feel paralysis.

The death of a pet is a great stress for the owners, so if you haven’t come to terms with his leaving in advance, have not prepared yourself for such an end and are very worried, it is best to ask for a day off at work for a few days. Although animals are as expensive as people, they are considered full members of the family, so that especially impressionable owners at first cannot think normally and do not realize everything that is happening around them, closing in on their grief. During this time, it is best to stay at home for a while.
