The cat limits its territory, leaving scent marks throughout the apartment - on furniture, walls, curtains, in corners and secluded places. It will take a long time to wean a cat - first you need to find out the reason, then develop tactics and implement solutions.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure your cat is comfortable. If the animal shits in the corners because it is not satisfied with the tray, then the container should be replaced. Usually the litter box is not large enough, often two containers are required - cats are very clean. Perhaps, an odor unpleasant for the cat has appeared next to the tray - air fresheners, detergents with which you clean carpets or furniture, etc.
Step 2
Try to drive the cat away from the corners. You can try to kill the persistent smell from cat marks by treating the surfaces with special solutions (they can be purchased at pet stores) or with improvised products (vinegar, detergents, mustard, iodine, etc.). Place boxes in the corners or move furniture around, that is, make this place inaccessible to the cat. You can put her bowl of food there - cats don't shit where they eat. This method has two drawbacks - the smell can become stronger if the cat continues to shit, or it can simply move to another place, having chosen the next corner.
Step 3
Sterilize the animal. Hormonal drugs or surgical sterilization can help correct physiological problems and help your cat feel more relaxed. If the cat marks corners, attracting grooms, then this is the only effective solution.
Step 4
Try to train your cat. Praise your pet every time it visits the litter box. Place the tray in the corner or put a newspaper there, gradually move the "toilet" further from the place where she shit. "Mark" the territory with your dirty things (socks, sweaty T-shirt), rubbing the fabric thoroughly on the surface - the cat must recognize your dominance in the house.
Step 5
Show your cat to the vet. If your cat is shitting, it could be a symptom of kidney or bladder disease. To exclude pathology, conduct an examination and get specialist advice. You may need to change food and treat the animal, then the problems will stop.
Step 6
Paste over the corners. To discourage your cat from getting close to corners, tape double-sided tape to the floor. Cats do not like to get their paws dirty, and limbs glued to the floor can lead her to panic. Having experienced stress, the cat will stop nasty in the corners.
