Buying a muzzle for a dog is a simple matter, but only at first glance. When choosing this accessory, you should consider not only the size of your pet's muzzle and jaw, but also the function and even the shape of the muzzle.

Mesh muzzles are suitable for calm, non-aggressive dogs. Such an accessory is made of leather or plastic. Such restraints for the jaws of the animal can be chosen for participation in competitions and exhibitions and just for walking the dog in the yard. But a leather muzzle can rub if it is incorrectly selected and is too small, so when buying this type, be sure to take your dog for a try-on. Plastic mesh muzzles look beautiful. But they tend to crack from impact and in the cold, while, for example, solid leather will be much stronger and more reliable.
Step 2
A mesh metal muzzle is ideal for a hot summer. However, it is not suitable for winter, as in frost the dog can "stick" with his lip or tongue to the metal. Even leather tabs do not completely exclude this possibility.

Insulated muzzles are a winter option for walking. Of course, it looks more massive and is much heavier in weight, but it is able to protect your dog's face in severe frost, thanks to the foam rubber, which is sewn as insulation. But the insulated muzzle is unsuitable for walking in summer and even spring, as it can provoke diaper rash.

The double metal muzzle prevents the dog from eating "illicit" food from the street, and is also good for very angry and aggressive pets. When choosing a double mesh stopper, pay attention to the mesh: the front grill should only consist of vertical bars, because your pet can break off its teeth on the horizontal bars if you try to bite something.

The owners pick up solid leather muzzles for evil guard dogs or police dogs. Unlike mesh iron or leather baskets, the "deaf" muzzle perfectly holds its shape and restrains the dog's aggression. These models are great for holding training and for developing a good grip. They are usually made of thick, sometimes double-layered leather with good attachment.
