Ferrets are predatory animals of the weasel family, but they are quite tame. By their nature, they are somewhat reminiscent of cats or dogs, as they love to be stroked. Ferrets can be kept at home. With proper care and feeding, your pet will live for over 7 years.
Before buying a ferret, prepare your apartment for a comfortable and safe stay. Remove wires, fragile items, tablets and anything that threatens the life of the animal. Equip a spacious cage: put a drinker, a bowl for food in it, hang a hammock and make a sleeping place.
Now you can go to the zoological store for the ferret. Once you bring him home, he may become inactive and sleep a lot. Try to pick him up and stroke him so that he gets used to you as soon as possible.
In nature, ferrets eat a variety of rodents, sometimes chickens if they get in their way. At home, it is better to feed the animal with special granules, which are designed specifically for the weasel family. You can buy food at the zoological store. Spoil your pet periodically with mealworms and forage cockroaches.
Don't forget about raising your ferret. In no case should you beat him! Just say "Fu" or "No" in a stern voice when the animal begins to bite or gnaw on furniture. In rare cases, you can cool the ardor of an animal with the help of a newspaper - lightly click it on the nose of the pet.
Train the litter box in the same way as a cat or small-breed dog. Place the litter box in a secluded spot, add filler and a rag soaked in the animal's urine. Show the ferret his new toilet and try to explain that you only need to go to it. If puddles appear randomly throughout the house, scold and take the puppy to the litter box.

Bathe your ferret no more than once a month. Use a feline, dog, or mustelid shampoo. Some individuals swim well in the bathtub and dive, while others are not very fond of water procedures.
Show your pet to your veterinarian periodically. Ferrets need to be vaccinated because they suffer from the same diseases as other carnivores. Worm removal should be done several times a year.
