Canaries are birds of the finch family that were domesticated in the 15th century. Today there are several breeds of decorative canaries that can sing beautifully and intricately. It is important to feed your poultry properly, then they will look good and delight you with their singing.

Step 1
You need to feed the canaries at the same time so that a reflex is formed in the bird's body to release the required amount of secretions in the digestive system. Then the bird will better digest food and absorb more nutrients.
Step 2
Place the food in special troughs made of wood, glass or porcelain. But remember that soft egg mixture should not be put in wooden feeders, otherwise bacteria will begin to multiply in them due to high humidity. Give the canary fruit and other vegetable forms in wire holders. Pour the water into a separate bowl: a suitable bowl or into a so-called autodrinker.
Step 3
Buy ready-made cereal mixes for your canary that contain the oil seeds and grains your birds need. They can be found at any pet store. When choosing a mixture, pay attention to the packaging: buy them in plastic boxes and bags, not in bags, otherwise the pet may get sick. Typically, these mixes include radish seeds, rape seeds, hemp seeds, millet and wild rice.
Step 4
Separately, feed the canary with millet seedlings and sprouts, which are especially beneficial for the chicks. You can also feed the chicks with hard-boiled eggs, finely chopping them beforehand, and tease seeds soaked in water. Soaked grains are good for canaries as they germinate in the water, which increases their nutritional value. Rinse the right amount of grain, place in a container of hot water and leave overnight. Rinse again in the morning and feed to the bird in a separate feeder. Throw away the leftovers in the evening, as these grains quickly grow moldy.
Step 5
Grain mixtures and seeds cannot provide all the necessary nutrients to canaries, therefore, it is necessary to supplement the bird's diet with mineral and vitamin supplements. Some mixes already contain these additives - they look like grains or balls, but birds rarely eat them, they choose only regular grains. So it will be difficult to keep track of the canary's nutrition, so it is better to buy special vitamin powders that can be dissolved in water.
Step 6
Feed the bird with an egg mixture from time to time. To do this, boil an egg, rub it through a sieve, put a spoonful of ground crackers and poppy seeds. Sometimes add milk, cottage cheese, fish oil, grated carrots, chopped fruit, or sprouted seeds. Eggs are very useful for canaries: they provide fast growth of chicks, support the sexual activity of adults and improve their singing skills.
