There are more than one hundred officially registered cat breeds in the world. There are also many mestizos and those species that have not yet received official status. In order to understand this variety, it is worth learning how to determine which breed the animal belongs to that you want to bring or have already brought into your home.
Instructions
Step 1
If you decide to purchase a kitten of a particular breed, then it will not be difficult to determine its breed affiliation. Study the literature in advance, look at the description of this breed on specialized sites on the Internet.
Step 2
Choose conscientious breeders. If you want a purebred animal and are going to go to the market for it, this is a big mistake. Of course, it is possible that you actually buy a real Maine Coon or Don Sphynx there, but another option is more common, when a kitten acquired from unknown hands later turns out to be an ordinary cat, just a little like its aristocratic counterparts.
Step 3
If you still want to buy a kitten from an ad or from the animal market, then take with you a person who understands the chosen breed. There are probably cat fancier clubs in your city, whose representatives are unlikely to refuse to help in choosing the right kitten.
Step 4
The need to determine the breed also arises when a kitten or already an adult animal comes to you from the street. Here, the Internet will also come to your aid. Look at pictures of the most common breeds, compare them with your pet. Different animals get on the street, so you have every chance of becoming the owner of a thoroughbred cat.
Step 5
If you yourself find it difficult to determine the breed, then again contact the club of cat lovers or the veterinary clinic, where experts will be able to say for sure what kind of representative of the feline settled in your house.
