In chinchilla breeding, as in any other business, there are various nuances that you need to know in order to achieve any result. In fact, absolutely anyone can engage in breeding these animals. At the initial stage, breeding chinchillas can bring a good additional income, and later, it can become your main income.

Step 1
Chinchillas can be raised by various methods: a pair method (with it, only one male and one female can be kept) and a polygamous method (in this case, options for keeping a male and from two to four females are acceptable). When breeding chinchillas, the polygamous method is most beneficial. Also, animals can be raised at home.
Step 2
When breeding chinchillas in pairs, you will need a spacious cage with special shelves, a house for the cubs, as well as for the female herself, and a bathing bath with sand. Additionally, you need to acquire another small cage, where you will need to place babies older than three months.
Step 3
After five to seven days after the second birth of the female, the male will need to be removed from her. This is due to the fact that after bringing offspring, the female needs to rest and recuperate. If a greater number of births in a row are allowed, then the birth of premature or non-viable offspring is likely due to the exhaustion and fatigue of the female. Five to seven days after lambing, the male can be placed back with the female.
Step 4
The female must be introduced to the male at the age of five months. It is recommended to choose a male two to three months older than the female. Usually, animals have tribal cards, where there is information about the parents and grandparents of chinchillas, both from the mother's side and from the father's side. These cards are necessary to exclude such a phenomenon as inbreeding, that is, related incest. If this happens, then healthy offspring will no longer be obtained.
