If chickens do not have nests, they begin to lay eggs in secluded corners, from which it is not always possible to get them. It is especially important to make nests if breeding is planned. On average, there should be one nest for five chickens, but if hens hatch the eggs, then one nest will not work. The hen rarely leaves its clutch and if it notices that another bird is approaching the nest, a fight may start.
Instructions
Step 1
Take not thick planks or plywood. You can use a croaker, as the beauty of the nest is not important to the chickens. Cardboard will not work, as the chickens peck at it.
Step 2
Cut the material into pieces. For chickens of egg breeds, the nests should be 30 cm long, 25 cm wide and 30 cm high. If you have meat-bearing chickens, then the size of the nest should be slightly larger, the length of such a nest should be 40 cm, width 30 cm and height 35 cm.
Step 3
Shoot down the pieces of timber into square boxes. Inspect the nests so that nails are not sticking out anywhere, they can damage the bird. Small steps 10 cm high can be made to the nests, so it will be easier for chickens to get into them.
Step 4
Place straws in the nests and place them in shaded areas where the chickens will not be distracted by anything. Do not forget to regularly inspect the nests, chickens rush once a day.
