It is better to buy a real British kitten in specialized catteries. You can find catteries on the Internet - every serious breeder has a website where you can see cats and kittens, read recommendations on care and education.

You can also book a kitten online. You can queue up for an unborn baby if you expect kittens with an unusual or popular color from titled parents.
Step 3
Newborn kittens are offered to future owners from the age of two weeks. You can come and meet the kitten and book it. But they will give it to you only three months after all the preventive vaccinations necessary for age have been carried out, with a completed veterinary passport, sales documents, pedigree (if any). The breeder is obliged to tell about all the features of its development, to give recommendations for proper feeding.

Buying a kitten through an official cattery ensures that the baby is really a British breed, from good parents who do not have a Scottish breed in their family. In the event that a sick animal was sold to you, you have the right to return the kitten back, according to the contract. Only in the cattery you can buy a show-class kitten. But the price is very high there. Be prepared for the fact that a plush baby will cost you 30-40 thousand rubles.

If you want to save money, look for breeders who work without a license. Of course, they will not give you any guarantees for the health of the kitten. In the best case scenario, you will be able to see the cat mom, and the dad will remain unknown.

When choosing such a kitten, carefully examine it. He should not have discharge from the eyes and nose - signs of infections. The kitten should be active, well-fed, with a good appetite. Some breeders do not wait until the baby is three months old, but give it away much earlier. But you can take a kitten if he no longer feeds on breast milk. Otherwise, the sudden separation from his mother will be real stress for him.

Be attentive to breed signs as well. The British Shorthair is distinguished by a thick plush undercoat, wide bones (powerful chest and paws), yellow, amber eyes. If the kitten is "lop-eared", it means that there were Scottish cats in his family, because this shape of ears is inherent only in this breed. In this case, the kitten cannot be considered a purebred British.
