Step 1
Echmiadzin
There are many historical monuments in the vicinity of Yerevan, but the most important among them is Echmiadzin - this is the center of the spiritual life of Armenia, the seat of the throne of the Catholicos of all Armenians. The Echmiadzin Monastery houses the main cathedral of Armenia, which is one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. The cathedral was under construction for several centuries, then underwent many reconstructions. Now the temple is majestic and beautiful, inside there is a marble altar, the floor is also lined with marble slabs, graceful paintings of the walls and domes fascinate.

Geghard monastery
This monastery is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is an amazing architectural creation. Several temples of the monastery are completely hollowed out inside the rocks, while others have only a part of the premises located in the rocks. Geghard is the most visited cultural and historical site in Armenia. The monastery was founded in the 4th century near a life-giving spring located in a cave. On the territory of the monastery there are many relics, the main of which is the spear with which the centurion pierced the body of Jesus Christ. The monastery itself got its name thanks to this Christian relic, because Geghard is translated from Armenian as a spear.

Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries
These monasteries are also included in the list of UNESCO sites. Haghpat, located in the north of Armenia, is a unique monument of the medieval era. Differs in an asymmetric layout, organically fits into the mountainous terrain. A school was founded in Haghpat in the 10th century, where outstanding theologians and scientists of Armenia taught. Sanahin was founded in the 10th century and is also famous all over the world. This is a monastic complex, which was located on a vast territory. At the beginning of the monastery's existence, up to five hundred monks lived on its territory. Many buildings of the monastery have not survived to this day due to the devastating earthquake of 1139.
Step 4
The land of Armenia is very ancient, back in the 9th-6th centuries BC. the state of Urartu flourished on its territory. Armenia was the first in world history to adopt Christianity. Many unique monuments of past centuries are scattered throughout the country. Everywhere you can find stone crosses called - Khachkars. These are symbols of the tragic events that the Armenian people experienced throughout their history.
