Since ancient times, quail breeding has been considered an exciting and interesting activity. About two hundred years ago, the breeding of these birds began to spread widely in Japan, but in Europe this has been done not so long ago.
Instructions
Step 1
Japanese quails. This breed of birds is the most widespread and famous all over the world. The egg production of Japanese quails is up to 300 eggs per year. Females of this breed weigh up to 150 grams, and males up to 120 grams. Japanese quails start laying eggs at 45 days of age. One egg of this quail breed weighs up to 15 grams.
Step 2
English black quail. This breed of birds arose due to mutations of Japanese quails. The main difference between English black quails and Japanese ones is their black plumage, diluted with a brown tint. Curiously, their body weight exceeds that of the Japanese by 8%. In one year of breeding, up to 280 eggs can be obtained from English black quails. The mass of the female of this breed of birds reaches 200 grams, and the male - 170 grams.
Step 3
English white and marble quails. In principle, the English white quail breed is analogous to the English black quail breed. The difference between them lies only in the pure white plumage. In all other respects, these birds are similar to each other. But the breed of marble quails is a kind of Japanese birds. In principle, apart from their marble color, they are no different from the original source.
Step 4
Tuxedo quails. This breed of birds belongs to the meat-bearing. Tuxedo quails are the result of crossing white and black birds. The body weight of these creatures is much less than that of the English, and the egg production is up to 270 eggs per year. The main distinguishing feature of tuxedo quails is a peculiar color of plumage: the head, neck and lower part of the body are white, and the upper part is dark with a brownish tint.
Step 5
Pharaohs. Another meat-and-meat quail breed is the pharaohs. However, these birds are in great demand precisely in the meat area: the size of adults is quite large. The weight of an adult female reaches 300 grams, and an adult male - 270 grams. Representatives of this breed of quail lay up to 220 eggs per year. The weight of one egg can reach 18 grams.
Step 6
Kaitavers and Manchu golden. Kaitavers is considered an Estonian quail breed. Its representatives are famous for their excellent qualities: firstly, their egg production is more than 300 eggs in one year, and secondly, the mass of an adult female reaches 210 grams, and an adult male - 180 grams. But the representatives of the Manchurian golden quail breed are slightly inferior to their "comrades-in-arms": the weight of an adult female is up to 180 grams, and the male is up to 160 grams. Their egg production is 290 eggs per year.
