British kittens are cute and very kind animals. They do not like to be alone for a long time, but they play only when they want to. Representatives of this breed adapt perfectly to a city apartment. How to provide your kitten with proper care from an early age?

Instructions

Step 1

Do not wean a British kitten from its mother earlier than 2-3 months from the date of birth. Be prepared for the kitten to be anxious about the "housewarming". Most likely, when it gets into your house, it will be hammered under the bed or somewhere else for several hours. Do not pull it out of there by force, but rather put a tray and a bowl of food and water nearby.

Step 2

British cats gain weight very quickly, so keep an eye on your small pet's diet. If from an early age you fed him ready-made food for kittens, then from 4 weeks start feeding him homemade food. This concept includes 10% cream mixed with boiled yolk, light curd, small pieces of beef or white chicken meat. Do not give your pet raw pork, and it is better to replace milk with low-fat sour cream or fermented baked milk. There should always be clean water in the drinker.

Step 3

Kittens of this breed often have discharge in the corners of the eyes, which needs to be removed. To do this, buy cotton swabs and a special solution that is sold at the pet store. Instead of the latter, you can use warm boiled water. Use a damp stick to clean the corners of the eyes, nose and ears as they become dirty. Use a cotton swab smeared with petroleum jelly or liquid paraffin (no deeper than 1 cm) to clean your ears. Do not forget to show your kitten to your veterinarian for disease prevention.

Step 4

British cats are shorthaired, so bathing is often unnecessary. But you need to get used to swimming from an early age. Wait a few weeks until the kitten is comfortable with the new home. Then fill the bathroom with warm water (37 degrees) and slightly dampen the fur. If the kitten runs away, do not forcefully bathe him. Moisten his coat from time to time, and then bathe whole. In no case should you wet your kitten's ears and eyes. Remember, there are different shampoos for humans and cats.

Step 5

Brush the kitten with a metal brush 1-2 times a month. Cut his claws the same number of times. To do this, buy special scissors - a nail clipper. Don't expect the kitten to enjoy this procedure, so before starting it, sit the baby on your lap and soothe him by stroking. Then take each foot in turn in your hand, lightly press on the pad and cut no more than 2-3 mm of the claw. To prevent the kitten from sharpening its claws on the new sofa, buy him a scratching post.
