On the streets of cities you can often find animals that cannot be called "domestic" - they have become real vagrants and even run wild, posing a threat to residents. Of course, it's just impossible to watch animals run wild or die of hunger on the streets - everyone understands that it is necessary to take action and resolve this issue. One of the options for his solution is to create shelters for former pets, but he has his opponents and his supporters.
Shelter problems
Opponents of shelters, advocating the ruthless destruction of homeless animals, appeal mainly to the fact that now spending budget money on the maintenance of animals, when schools and hospitals do not have enough of them, is pointless. In their opinion, it is much easier and cheaper to catch and kill an animal that turned out to be useless. Of course, when people are embittered and are no longer capable of elementary humanism, which is a distinctive and characteristic feature of Homo sapiens, one cannot expect anything else from them. But the authorities are not resolving this issue in this way, and therefore, at the level of municipalities, resolutions are adopted and land and money are allocated for the construction of shelters for abandoned and neglected animals, as is done, for example, in Moscow. But, despite the correct decisions and the allocated funds, to date, only a small part of the shelters planned for construction are ready for work, by and large, the problems of homeless animals are actually of little concern to officials.

Those who are not indifferent to these problems have to organize their own cat and dog shelters. If a team of like-minded altruists takes on this business, they act in accordance with the law: they organize some kind of LLC, knock out a piece of land for the construction of a shelter and more or less tolerably provide shelter and food for a limited contingent. Many shelters, in fact, are dens for animals: compassionate grandmothers open them in their small apartments, and unfortunate neighbors are forced to suffer from an intolerable smell and round-the-clock howling, because there are sometimes several animals per square meter of space.
Having decided to bring a dog or a cat into the house in order to love and take care of it, think - maybe it is better to take it to such a shelter and provide yourself with the love and gratitude of the rescued animal.
Are Animal Shelters Needed?
Such private and municipal shelters are, of course, needed. And they are needed primarily not by animals, but by people in order to remain human. It is not the animal's fault that it was thrown out into the street, it is the fault of the people. To kill a dog or a cat just because nobody needs it is cruel and inhuman. If you cannot or, even if you do not want to take an animal into the house, you can still contribute and help in the work of those shelters where animals are provided with tolerable care, adaptation and socialization, after which they often find new owners. Any legal private shelter needs volunteers or financial support. Choose the form of help that suits you best, and help those who were once tamed by man.
